Monday morning I attended Tyler's 30 day placement review with the manager of the group home , one of the aides , the nurse and our Regional Center case worker.
He has adapted amazingly well. It seems like the time that we spent with him at Spencer's house before the move was helpful. Of course, he couldn't tell us either way. We can only speculate.
Our meeting was so positive. Tyler is happy, content. Hasn't spent too much time out on the swingset that we moved over there. But he is still happy.
Guy did such a great job of setting up each of the boys with their own computers and all the movies on them. Ty has his earphones and is happy to zone out.
Last night we took them out for In-N-Out burger. They plowed through 5 orders of fries and a bucket of ketchup. It just makes me so happy to see them enjoying their food. Tyler got his chocolate shake and he made short work of it. Happy...Happy....Happy..
After dinner we stopped and got Tyler a set of MegaBlocks from Target. He has been hovering around his roomate "P" and trying to snake his toys. This should put them both at ease. We also grabbed a cheap pair of speakers for Spencer's computer.
In the car Spence was calling out from the back seat, "Green Eggs and Ham...pweeese. Richard Scarry pweese"! and I said. "in a little bit Spence....can you wait"?....."Yes" was his profound answer.
All he wanted to do was get back to his videos and relax at home. Tyler wanted the same.
I felt SO GOOD. What an amazing gift to see how content my boys are now. They have a regular steady schedule without any drama. Excellent staff that are so attentive to their needs. The boys LOVE going out to dinner with us. And when we get back to the house....they don't want to leave with us, they just want to play.
Zero tantrums.
They need this and so do we. Walking out to the car with Guy I was overwhelmed with peace. We have done the right thing. Our boys are in the best place imaginable and our family is really starting to heal.
I am forever grateful for this opportunity.
