today they notified me that our last reimbursement check was available for pickup from the school district.
For a year we transported Ty to and from school. Why would we do this?
Because it was 35 miles away and in another county.
We could have insisted in having the school district pay for it. We could have fought that fight. We chose not to.
Since the school was 10-15 minutes away from Guy's work we decided to do it ourselves.
Guy drove Ty to school in the morning. ( bonus because then they could use the carpool lane!).
At lunch, Guy would wait to take his break until 2 when Ty's school got out. I would drive out to meet them at the halfway point. We would make the handoff and I would take Ty home while Guy finished up his day.
We would submit our mileage reports every month and then wait for a reimbursement check.
Week after week. Month after month, we made our daily trip. Some of those trips were good and some weren't. Many a berry smoothie, (Ty's Fav), was enjoyed at the Costco near the halfway point.
It seems so surreal that another part of our journey has come to an end.
Funny how that notice would come on the day of Ty's 30 day eval in his new classroom. One door closes and another opens.

I get respite care funds for TC. Luckily my daughter can watch him sometimes and give me a break.
