Jay-You.....

(Villager and Royal Guard)

(He is helping her learn her lines)

There is this thing called Junior University. I posted the audition pics a few months ago.

It made for a very busy summer.

Lots and lots of driving to and from the rehearsals that ended closer and closer to midnight the closer we got to opening night.

All that small inconvenience aside, it was a magical experience for our boy. He made some great friends, sold a few tickets and learned so much more about musical theatre. We learned what a well oiled machine that program is. They have been going for 49 years and it shows, (no pun intended).

The night before closing they throw a cast party after the show. These are theatre people and so the fun doesn't even start until 11 pm. Family is invited and we went to meet more parents and as a show of solidarity for the Deejinator.

It was worth it to see the show after the show. They do a parody of the play making fun of all the mistakes and plot absurdities. If you had seen the show more than once like we had, it was hilarious. The kids did a fantastic job.

The best part was the cast awards voted on by the cast and crew. DJ won the "J-You" award for being a great guy and pitching in to help out all the time. ( He showed up to paint the set for four hours on a Saturday morning in the blistering sun one weekend).

Good job son.

Thanks to everyone who showed their support by buying tickets and suffering through an outdoor ampitheatre production complete with low flying owls, helicopters, planes and people who refuse to take their screaming children out of a live show.
