A long time ago, our typical teenager was a little boy. He would spout out cute little phrases all the time and I regret not writing them down. Things like... driving past McDonalds he would call out from his car seat..." I smell ice-cream".
There were a couple nuggets of wisdom that did stick in our memory by virtue of the fact that Guy and I would keep repeating them to our friends. The little marvel.
Our favorite, by far, happened when we were asking him to perform a chore and he was resisting. We stuck to our guns and followed through which produced some whining and this pithy observation.
He said: " but I can't WANT it"!
Meaning...."wanting" to do it was a pre-requisite for completing the task.
